I know I haven't been posting much but the past week has been very busy. We got on CBS News, are planning an interview with ABS-CBN, raised nearly $4.6k, made 39 shields and distributed 23, and ordered materials to make 2,000 shields by the end of May!
On April 1st, I did an interview with CBS13. That helped bring us publicity and reinvigorated momentum in our GoFundMe. The growth has slowed but I think we can reach $5k in a week or two.
Jade Saefong joined our team the next day. She was able to borrow a 3D printer from her sister and brings our team member count to 8.
I spent the next couple days refining the design and ordering parts for my team members. Deploying 5 more shields to my mom's hospital and 5 for a medical team going to San Diego, I was able to get dynamic feedback and added tape to the foam to make these shields cleanable and reusable.
When buying the parts, in order to bypass the buying limits for certain parts, I've decided to color code the straps depending on who uses the straps for the shields. You can tell who made your shield based off of the color of the strap using the following key:
Zuriel - Black
Zane - Blue
Justin - Red
Nathan - Purple
Luke - White
Liam - Tan
Jade - Green
Jacob is making Prusa shields so none of our Crafting the Curve designed shields would have been made by him. Not all Prusa shields may be his, however, so don't blame him if your Prusa shield doesn't work well ;)
I deployed 5 more today to my dad's work (the CEO of his company, Benchmark Research, actually shouted me out :O) so he could show them to urgent care, and I'm deploying 14 more to my mom's work tomorrow.
I released a tutorial on the Crafting the Curve page last night. I am also in contact with a student from San Jose to see if I can help him start a team like ours in that area.
I'll try to keep this blog updated but it's been a very exhausting week. Stay safe!
