We have 3D printed parts for nearly 500 shields, fully assembled over 100 shields and distributed 65 shields at the time of writing. We have raised over $5k on our GoFundMe and are expanding our publicity and reaching out to other teams for collaboration. This and more we have achieved within the first week of everyone getting their supplies, and we are just getting started!
I've become friends with Joshua Park, who is starting a similar team to us called Print2Protect. We share our progress and give each other tips but pretty notably, if they raise enough money, they are willing to combine their funds with ours so we can move up to injection molding or another form of mass production!
I am also in contact with one of the leaders of the GoFundMe for face shields that inspired my own GoFundMe. She is helping give advice for scaling up to injection molding and mass production.
Additionally, we are gaining more publicity. Tayo News did a short special on us on Instagram, and The Filipino Channel (TFC) is supposed to broadcast a news segment on us on ABS-CBN soon. We are even in contact with MESA directors and are getting some more publicity from them.
On top of all this, however, it is only one month before AP exams and I need to start focusing on school and studying again. At the same time, I'm really anxious to get back into gamedev, an endeavor you may know had to be paused for this project. Hopefully I can figure out a way to effectively juggle all three projects: school, shields, and gamedev.
Until next time, stay safe!
